For many people, bad habits top the list of reasons why they can't stop eating. The good news is that by seeing where the problem is, you can begin to correct it. A focus on change and implementing a useful meal management system will quickly have you back on the right track.  

Skipping Meals

Who hasn't done this? It's super easy to rush right along into your day, ditching breakfast and lunch in order to get more work done. Yet, this means you'll eat more at dinner, since your hormones haven't been able to tell your brain all day that you've stopped feeling hungry (because you probably haven't). A meal management system effectively combats this problem. If your breakfast and lunch are packed and ready to go when you are, you have no reason to skip them.

Not Getting Enough Sleep

This is one of the easiest, and worst, bad habits to fall into in terms of the effects it has on your body. The Mayo Clinic found that people who slept an hour and 20 minutes less than usual ended up eating an average of 549 calories more than usual the following day. It seems that this may be a result of the effect sleep has on hormonal levels that control appetite. If you can't stop eating, get more sleep.

Empty Calories

Eating foods with empty calories like chips, candy, cookies and other treats are essentially made out of nothing but carbs and sugar. This means that you can easily feel like you can't stop eating them without ever feeling satisfied. Avoid these empty calories in favor of nutrient-rich foods that you can easily organize ahead of time with your meal management system.

Not Drinking Enough Water

If you feel like you can't stop eating, more water might just be the answer. The average person should consume between nine and thirteen cups of water a day. (Less for women, more for men.) The American Chemical Society conducted a study in which they discovered that people who drank two cups of water prior to their meal ate 75-90 less calories. So even if you don't feel thirsty, make sure you drink water with every meal. Feeling like you can't stop eating isn't the end of the world. Chances are, one of these bad habits is the culprit. A proper meal management system and a good night's rest will keep you feeling satisfied throughout the day. A healthy body cultivates a rewarding life, in which you can meet all your fitness goals and needs.
